May 23, Recently, Jovan Buha talked about the two centers that the Lakers are most likely to consider this summer in a podcast program.
Buha said: "The two names I hear most are Clarkston and Gafford. These two are considered the best centers that may be obtained on the market right now. For Gafford, the Mavericks already have Lefley and AD, and he is about to face renewal issues. As for Clarkston, the Brooklyn Nets are in an awkward situation, they don't have top stars."
"You've heard of Brooklyn Lowe Pez, Clint Capela and Steven Adams, they are the main candidates in the center market. "
"If the Lakers didn't trade Luca, my intuition would point to Gafford because I think Gafford would be a to-choice, and the Lakers can meet salary requirements in a relatively easy way, which makes sense. But for now, I'm more inclined to Clarkston or Clint Capela." Buha added.
Gafford's contract expires next summer, with a salary of $14.39 million next season; Capela's contract expires this summer; Clarkston signed a four-year, $97 million contract with the Nets last summer, and ends in 2028, with a salary of $25.35 million next season.
