The Atlanta Hawks officially announced that the team has cut off two players, Javan Johnson and Dwight Murray Jr., who have just signed. It is worth mentioning that the Hawks just signed these two players a day ago.
Johnson was born in January 1999 and is 26 years old, 198cm tall and weighs 87kg. He is the undraft in the 2023 NBA Draft. In the NBA Development League field last season, Johnson played 49 times for the Santa Cruz Warriors, who was affiliated with the Golden State Warriors, and his NBA Development League team, averaged 26.9 minutes per game, with averaging 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks, and 1.4 turnovers and 1.8 fouls. His shooting percentage was 41.7%, his three-point shooting percentage was 37.5%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 91.2%. In the previous NBA summer league, Johnson represented the Hawks three times in total, averaging 18.4 minutes per game, averaging 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1 block, and 1.8 turnovers and 1.3 fouls, with a shooting percentage of 45% and a three-point shooting percentage of 44.4%.
Murray was born in January 2000. He is 25 years old, 183cm tall and weighs 82kg. He is the undraft in the 2023 NBA Draft. In the NBA Development League field last season, Murray played 44 times in the NBA Development League team, a subsidiary of the Hawks, with averaging 23.4 minutes per game, with averaging 8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.1 blocks, and 1.6 turnovers and 1.2 fouls. His shooting percentage was 39.2%, his three-point shooting percentage was 31.5%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 76.2%. In the previous NBA Summer League, Murray played 3 games for the Hawks, averaging 13.6 minutes per game, with averaging 4.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 0.7 steals, and a turnover and 0.3 fouls. His shooting percentage was 45.5%, a three-point shooting percentage of 50%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 100%. Obviously, Murray's performance in the NBA Development League and the NBA Summer League was also very average, and he also had no particularly outstanding performance.
Although the Hawks did not clearly state the contract details of the two players, we can basically be sure that what Johnson and Murray got was a training camp contract containing Exhibit 10. The Hawks' subordinate team, the University Park Skyhawks, had previously obtained Johnson's NBA Development League ownership from the Golden State Warriors' subordinate team, Santa Cruz Warriors through a tripartite transaction, while Murray played for the University Park Skyhawks in the 2023-24 season, and the University Park Skyhawks still owned his NBA Development League ownership. If the two players can spend 60 days in the College Park Skyhawks in the new season, they can get up to $85,300 in prize money from the Hawks. In this case, the Hawks chose to sign and then slash these two players in order to give them more bonus incentives.
