May 5th Wenger said in an interview with BeIN Sports that the Europa League champion should not qualify for the Champions League.
When asked whether the UEFA Cup champion "should" be qualified for the Champions League, he said: "No, they should automatically qualify for the UEFA Cup next season, and they don't have to enter the Champions League."
"Especially in the Premier League, they have already obtained 5 Champions League qualifications this season, I think this is something that UEFA needs to think about and re-evaluate."
"But on the other hand, people will also tell you that in order to keep the UEFA's attention, attractiveness and motivation, they need to be given the reward for advancing to the Champions League."
The semi-finals of the Europa League this season are Manchester United, Tottenham, Athletic Bilbao and Bode Shining. Both Premier League teams have gained a considerable lead in the first leg.
