July 8th Liverpool striker Jota died in a car accident. Former Reds teammate Phillips updated his social media today and posted a long article to mourn Jota.
Phillips social media wrote:
I must admit that this passage has been considered for a few years, fearing that the words will not be fulfilled. How can I praise this person whom we all love deeply? He illuminates the lives of many people and is of great significance to too many people.
Jota, like everyone in the world, I really miss you, brother. It is my honor and pride to be able to share the locker room with you and experience those precious moments and memories together.
You are always happy to joke. More importantly, no matter how brilliant your life is, you always maintain your true self.
In fact, no achievement can change your essence. You are so outstanding and so humble.
You are a close friend, a magical player, but most importantly - you are a unique person.
Rest in peace, Diogo and Andre.
Salute all my love and strength to your family ❤️
In June this year, Liverpool announced that Phillips joined West Brom, ending his nine-year Reds career.
