English League One player: If I were born ten years late, I could gain a foothold in Manchester United at the moment

May 6 According to the Manchester Evening News, former Manchester United player Dmitry Mitchell believes that if he was born ten years later, he could gain a foothold in the current Manchester United.

Mitchell, 28, currently plays for the League One team Exeter City, and he found a new home after leaving Manchester United in 2020. At St James Park Stadium, he helped the team finish 16th in the League One this season. In contrast, Manchester United, led by current coach Amorin, is currently only ranked 15th in the Premier League, and cannot enter the top half of the remaining three games, which will be their worst ranking in the Premier League era.

Nevertheless, Manchester United defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Cup semi-finals, and the second leg will be held at home, and there is a high possibility of advancing to the final. However, Mitchell remains firmly convinced that he has the ability to occupy a place in today's Manchester United first team.

Mitchell said on social media: "If I had made my mark at Manchester United now, I would definitely be a regular player in the first team. Although I may not be able to adapt to the physical requirements of the top league right now, I believe that I could do this role at the age of 20. Not that I can play every game, but I would be a regular player in the first team."

Mitchell said that he believes that in the Premier League environment, young players can learn a lot in a short time, and some players who are more talented than him don't get the chance. Although some point out that left-backs like Dogu, Ama, Maas will hinder his development, Mitchell obviously has confidence in himself.

It is reported that Mitchell made his debut for Manchester United in the last round of the 2016-17 season against Crystal Palace, and then loaned to the Soviet Super League team Harts twice, eventually moving to Blackpool permanently in the summer of 2020. He then moved to Hebernian and joined Exeter City last year. Although his contract expires this summer, he has been invited to pre-season training in hopes of a new contract.
