At the request of a friend, let’s talk about Mitchell Langerak, a former Dortmund goalkeeper who is not very famous but can be called Bayern nemesis.

On August 22, 1988, Mitchell Langrack was born in Emerald, Australia. The local football atmosphere is not strong, and there are few professional football clubs. In order to achieve better development, Langrack went to Melbourne at the age of 19 to play for Melbourne Victory Club. However, at this time he was too immature and obviously lacked game experience. He failed to lock in the main seat and could only go to other clubs to level up as a loan player.

Fortunately, Langrak's luck is really good. During his loan grading, Melbourne Victory experienced a significant change in personnel at the goalkeeper position and was short of staff at one time. Langrack took advantage of the situation to return and served as the main goalkeeper in the 2009-10 season, and his performance was quite good.

As we all know, the goalkeeper is relatively late in this position compared to other positions. Even though the Australian League has not had a great influence, Langerak was able to win the main goalkeeper in Melbourne at a young age, which has attracted the attention of many European clubs, including the old German giant Dortmund. In the summer of 2010, Dortmund brought Langerak to the Bundesliga with a transfer fee of 500,000 euros.

At that time, Dortmund already had Weidenfeller in the goalkeeper position. Langrack is a newcomer, and there is a clear gap between his strength, fame and even influence from Weidenfeller, and he can only sit on the bench and wait for an opportunity. It was not until the 24th round of the Bundesliga season in the 2010-11 season that Langerak ushered in his Bundesliga debut. As for the opponent, it is Bayern Munich with a strong army.

Why did Dortmund send Langrack to such a critical game? It’s not that the then Dortmund coach Klopp wanted to launch a surprise attack or something. It was purely because Weidenfell was unfortunately injured. Klopp could only trust Langerak. Uncle Slag didn’t know how helpless he was.

However, in such a game, Langrack played a phenomenal performance. He was so immovable as a mountain in the face of the repeated attacks of star players such as Robben, Ribery, and Muller. Langrack conceded only one goal throughout the game. However, his teammates broke through Bayern's goal three times, causing King Nan to return in disgrace.

However, outstanding performance in one game alone is not enough to help Langrak securely sit in the main seat. When Weidenfell returns from injury, Langerak still has to return to the bench to wait for an opportunity. Throughout his entire Dortmund career, he only represented his boss in 35 official games.

What makes people quite interesting is that 4 of these 35 official games face Bayern. In addition to his debut mentioned above, Langrack also met the South King in the 2011-12 German Cup final, the 2014 German Super Cup and the 2014-15 German Cup semi-finals. The result was shocking, Langrack actually maintained a complete victory against the South King.

The most representative battle took place in the semi-finals of the 2014-15 German Cup, with Dortmund facing the South King away. Bayern started very well, with sharpshooter Lewandowski opening the first record. However, the Dortmund generals did not give up on the game, but gritted their teeth and persevered. When the game was in the second half, Aubameyang, who was still wearing Dortmund uniforms, stepped forward and tied the game 1-1.

Both sides did not score in the following regular game time, and they also had no results in overtime, so they could only enter a cruel penalty shootout. Langerak stood in front of the goal and looked at the Bayern generals calmly.

I don't know if it's because of my luck or something else, Langerak actually defeated Bayern Munich in the penalty shootout stage. Ram and Harvey Alonso slipped their soles one after another, so Langrak didn't need to do anything. As for Gotze's penalty kick, Langerak saved it directly. Bayern goalkeeper Neuer also tried his luck, but was turned away by the crossbar.

I have to say that Langerak's performance against Bayern is really amazing. Whether in terms of the record of the confrontation or the performance of the players themselves, Langerak is considered the nemesis of Bayern Munich. Unfortunately, this is not enough to get Dortmund's main seat. Langrack at this stage is in his best years as a professional player, so he is naturally unwilling to sit on the bench to waste his time. In the summer of 2015, Langrack waved goodbye to Dortmund and headed to Stuttgart to play. However, his luck was really bad. He was unfortunately relegated after only playing for one season for his new boss.

After Stuttgart was relegated, Langerak did not leave immediately, but accompanied his team to compete in the Bundesliga for a season, and then went to the La Liga to play for Levante. However, his Levante career is not good, and he is just a substitute goalkeeper for the team. In the days after

, Langerak first made gold in the Japanese League, then returned to Melbourne to win, and announced his retirement in the summer of 2025.
