Hupu, August 14, exclusive report from TheAthleticUK team, Chelsea will take out part of the Club World Cup bonus paid to the players and donate to the families of Diogo Jota and Andre Silva.
The West London club was crowned the champion of FIFA's new expansion event by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final at the Metropolitan Life Stadium in July this year. Their success in the event has brought about $114.6 million in revenue to the club.
Chelsea then allocated $15.5 million (about £11.4 million) to evenly distribute the players who represented Enzo Maresca in the event.
The total value of the bonus received by each person is over $500,000, which does not include the cost of converting US dollars to pounds, as well as the associated employer costs, taxes and social security costs. The club and the players decided that Jota's family would also receive equal donations.
