Simmons is close to joining the Knicks! May fall from 40 million to 3 million, and is expected to play its value in New York

Ben Simmons signed a five-year, $177 million contract with the 76ers in 2019, which will be implemented in 2020 and expire in 2025. He played 51 regular season games for the Nets and the Clippers last season, starting in 24 games, averaging 22 minutes per game, scoring 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, shooting percentage of 52.0% and free throw percentage of 72.7%. He was a full free agent this summer.

Jake Weinbach wrote on his personal Twitter: "Simmons is reportedly a strong candidate for the Knicks' last base salary contract seat. Simmons can provide New York with some value, can serve as the team's second organizer, or defend multiple positions, and he still has shortcomings in offense. However, I think the Knicks will actually value his organizational ability and defensive skills. This former No. 1 pick is a powerful addition to the depth of the Knicks' lineup."

It is worth mentioning that in the past season, Simmons' salary was $40.34 million, and if the base salary (3.3 million) signed with the Knicks, it would be a big salary drop.
