What s going on? The Warriors No. 7 pick leaves the team and enters the countdown? This is good news for the Lakers

2:28pm, 25 May 2025Basketball

We all know that the Warriors were eliminated 4:1 by the Timberwolves in the playoffs. There are two explanations for this:

First, Curry. In the regular season, the Warriors netted 5.7 points in 100 rounds in 2252 minutes on the court, and in 1694 minutes on the court, the team netted 0.4 points in 100 rounds in 1694 minutes on the court.

Obviously, the Warriors were in a loss when Curry was not present. In other words, it is not surprising that the Warriors lost the Western Conference semi-finals, after all, Curry was injured and unable to play.

Second, Kumingga. G4 and G5 scored 20+ consecutively, filling the offensive gap left by Curry's absence to a certain extent.

For the second point, I want to show that Kumingga still has the ability.

In the regular season, Kumingga's shooting rate averaged by 15.3 points or 45.4% per game has dropped significantly compared with last season. Of course, this is more related to Cole's failure to give him a chance - he took 568 shots, 862 shots last season; he played 1144 minutes, and 1949 minutes last season.

Although the chances are significantly reduced, Kumingga still plays the importance to the team - compared to being away from the court, the team wins 2.9 points more in a hundred rounds - high-level data, with an irreplaceable value of 0.8 tied for the sixth place in the team with Payton Jr.

Speaking of this, according to NBA reporter Siegel, the Nets, Bulls and Heat have become interested in Kumingga before the free agent market opened. Subsequent reports pointed out that Kuminga may have entered the countdown to leave the Warriors.

From this news, we can see that there is indeed a gap between Kumingga and the Warriors, otherwise it would be a waste of time. What I mean, why is there no news when the rookie contracts of Edwards, Doncic and others expired that other teams were interested in them? To put it bluntly, the Timberwolves and the Mavericks will definitely not let them go.

Of course, whether Kumingga leaves the team or not, it seems good news for the Lakers in my opinion.

Scenario 1: Stay at the team. As the No. 7 show in 21, Kumingga certainly has the ability. As I said just now, I still performed well with limited opportunities. But it is difficult to repair the gap between the two sides. In other words, even if the Warriors forcefully stay in the team, they will not work hard, just like Ayton.

In the summer of 22, Ayton negotiated a franchise contract with the Trail Blazers, but the Suns forced a match, and the 22-23 season brought about Ayton's work but failed. In the summer of 23, Ayton traded Ayton for Nurkic and others. Now, this transaction is a completely failure.

Scenario 2: Leaving the team. It is true that only the Nets have a salary space of more than 30 million this summer, but the question is, what should the Warriors do if the former really uses this space quote to Kuminga? For matching, refer to the first point; for mismatch, you will lose a No. 7 show + combat power in vain. This is one of them.

Secondly, if you go to the lottery, you will not take out equal chips when you learn about the gap. After all, it is the warriors who are anxious, not themselves.

To sum up two points, when the barrier appears, regardless of whether Kumingga leaves the Warriors or not, it is good news for the Lakers. To be precise, the former's instant combat power has been weakened to a certain extent.
