Tottenham Hotspur officially appointed new coach: Danish coach takes office, creating miracles in the small team

In the early morning of June 13, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur officially announced that it had officially appointed Danish coach Thomas Frank as the team's new head coach. The 51-year-old coach signed a long-term contract with the club to 2028, replacing Angie Postkoglu, who just led the team to win the UEFA Cup but was fired for a poor league record.

Although Postkoglu led Tottenham to win the UEFA Cup in his first season in coaching, breaking the team's 17-year championship drought, his performance in the Premier League was disappointing - he ended up only ranked 17th in the league and almost fell into the relegation zone, which also became the main reason for his dismissal.
It is revealed that Tottenham executives had launched a plan to change coaches long before Postkoglu left office, and had contacted Frank in advance through the middleman. This move shows the club's high expectations for the next phase of reconstruction work.
Frank was previously known for coaching Brentford. He helped this "small ball club" to the Premier League with limited resources, and has been stably relegated for several consecutive seasons, showing strong tactical execution and resource integration capabilities. Especially in the offense and defense of set pieces, the use of sideline ball tactics, and the implementation of the three central defender system, he is considered unique.
Tottenham currently has players with wingback attributes such as Pedro Polo, Udorgi and Spencer, which is very consistent with Frank's usual three-back system and also provides a good foundation for his tactical deployment.
The team has a complete resume and a familiar face behind it. Frank will join North London with a number of long-term cooperative assistants, including:
Assistant coach Justin Cochrane)
Performance analyst Joe Newton
Performance expert Chris Haslam
Former Manchester United assistant coach Andreas Georsson
It is worth mentioning that Tottenham sports director John Lange played a key role in this signing. The two worked together in Danish team B93 in 2004, when Lange gave Frank the opportunity to be head coach for the first time. Since then, Frank has gradually grown from a low-level league to a famous coach in the mainstream league, and this deep connection has also enhanced the confidence of cooperation between the two sides.
Although Frank has not won a major trophy or led a team to the Champions League, he has long won a high reputation in the industry. Manchester City coach Guardiola once publicly stated: "He is one of the most talented coaches, and it is only a matter of time to coach the giants." Liverpool legendary coach Klopp also praised him for "flexible tactical thinking, advanced concepts, and a very personalized coach."
For Tottenham, Frank's arrival not only means an adjustment of the tactical direction, but also a reshaping of the strategic level. The club hopes to use his extensive experience in youth training construction, tactical innovation and team management to help the team get back on track and strive to make breakthrough progress in both the Premier League and European arena.
