TA: Real Madrid will not break the one-year-one-continuation rule for Rudiger; Enderrick’s future is undecided

9:39pm, 9 October 2025Football

Hupu News on October 9 This week, TheAthleticUK Real Madrid and the team’s reporter team answered fan questions.

Is it true that Rudiger will be on a free transfer next summer? ——José A.

I am very curious about how the situation will develop in the next year regarding the signing, contract renewal, departure of central defenders, and even the promotion of some youth training players.

Rudiger's future remains uncertain. A few months ago, other reports claimed that Real Madrid would break the unwritten rule against players over 30 and offer Rudiger a contract extension of more than one year - but as far as I know, this is not accurate.

I also don't think recent reports that he will leave as a free agent next summer are correct.

The 32-year-old player has been unable to play normally due to two injuries (first to the knee, then to the left leg) and surgery. The club's failure to sign a centre-back in the summer of 2024, coupled with Ancelotti having no choice but to play him, also hurts his situation.

Rudiger put in a huge effort to help the team win during a difficult season last season, even delaying necessary knee surgery and playing through injuries.

I think Rudiger's high-level performance in the team is much more than that. Because of this, neither the club nor the player himself has made any decisions yet. Teams in the Saudi Professional League have shown interest in him, making it an attractive destination for the defender, but it's only October and nothing is clear yet.

How do you think Alonso will deal with the impasse between Alda Guler and Jude Bellingham? It seems that one of the two needs to drop back and be closer to Aurelian Joan Armene, otherwise the two will not be in sync. ——Santiago M.

Both Guler and Bellingham are highly praised by the coaching staff and the club. The 20-year-old Guler has performed well this season, contributing 3 goals and 4 assists in 10 games; while Bellingham has just completed shoulder surgery and played 5 games.

In principle, after the international break, Bellingham will play a more important role and assume an attacking position, just like Guler has done since the beginning of the season. But Alonso often uses a 4-4-2 formation, which allows the two of them to play side by side. It is worth mentioning that they also have to compete with another attacking midfielder Franco Mastantono, who has played 538 minutes so far and is regarded as another young player with great potential.

Alonso himself said at many press conferences that the competition for offensive positions is very fierce. Therefore, it's no surprise that his playing time is more evenly distributed and that we see him rotating between Guler and Mastantuno.

However, if Real Madrid face weaker opponents and Alonso's side suffers injuries, we may see these three attacking midfielders playing at the same time.

What happened to Endrick? Alonso wanted to loan him out but he refused? He played 10 games and not even a minute was given to him, which feels weird. ——Michael B

Hi Michael! Thanks for asking—we'll be publishing an article on Enderrick's situation later this week, giving an in-depth look at what's been going on with the Brazilian this year.

However, let me add: It is inaccurate to say that Alonso did not give him a chance in 10 games. Ndrick only featured against Getafe in May after re-injuring his right hamstring, so he should realistically only have played five games - although that's still important.
