Post: Chelsea seriously considered signing Sancho last week, but the salary is too high

June 4th, the Daily Mail wrote an article introducing the behind-the-scenes story of Chelsea returning Sancho to Manchester United by 5 million pounds. The article said that Chelsea seriously considered signing Sancho last week, but the salary was too high.

The agreement signed with Manchester United with Sancho last summer does not include any loan fee, and there is a buyout clause of 25 million pounds in the player contract, but if Chelsea repents, they will need to pay a penalty of 5 million pounds.

Sancho scored a goal in the UEFA League final last week when Chelsea beat Betis. Chelsea once considered whether it was worth signing him permanently. Sancho really did not show his best football talent, but he has always been a popular player in the locker room, helping the team win the UEFA Champions League and return to the Champions League.

Chelsea sources said they seriously considered signing Sancho for permanent last week, but explained that they were negotiating personal terms and the possibility of any signing was shattered, and Chelsea spent £5 million to return Sancho. It is understood that Chelsea agreed to pay about half of Sancho's weekly salary of £250,000 at Manchester United this season, but insiders said they are not ready to pay their full future salary.

Chelsea's salary structure is based on an incentive contract, and they also learned that Sancho's contract with Manchester United is one year away, and the player has a choice elsewhere in Europe. Now Sancho can explore these options, and Chelsea is not going to let him participate in the Club World Cup, even if his contract expires at the end of the month.

Maresca spent most of the second half of the season asking Sancho to make more contributions on the left side, and even before joining Chelsea last year, Maresca called to explain to Sancho that his system needed a winger who could break through one-on-one. But as the season progresses, fans are increasingly disappointed with Sancho's performance.

Chelsea is accelerating interest in other wingers, such as Dortmund's Gittens, the 20-year-old British player's transfer fee is about 50 million pounds, which is twice as much as Sancho's transfer fee if the transfer terms can be met.
