On the evening of May 25, Real Madrid Club of La Liga announced that Spanish coach Xavi Alonso would serve as the team's head coach.

Real Madrid wrote in an announcement released on its official website that Xavi Alonso will serve as the head coach of Real Madrid for the next three seasons, with a term from June 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.

Alonso was born in November 1981 and played for Real Sociedad and Liverpool. In the summer of 2009, 28-year-old Alonso switched to Real Madrid and played for the "Galaxy Battleship" until 2014. In 2022, Alonso served as the head coach of the Bundesliga Leverkusen and led the team to win the first Bundesliga championship in team history with an unbeaten record in the 2023-2024 seasons. That season, Leverkusen also won the German Cup. In the 2024-2025 season, Alonso led Leverkusen to finish second in the Bundesliga.
