GMS: Frank agrees to coach Tottenham, Bees ask Tottenham to pay the termination fee in full

June 9th givemesport reported that Tottenham is about to announce the new coach, and Brentford coach Frank confirmed his intention to join.

Although Tottenham ended their 17-year wait for a championship without a title last month and won the Europa League final, club president Daniel Levi and other senior executives think it's time to change the head coach. After Postkoglu was fired by Tottenham last week, the club began looking for his successor. According to GIVEMESPORT's source, current top candidate Thomas Frank has confirmed that he hopes to leave Premier League rival Brentford and head to Tottenham to coach.

It is understood that Frank has verbally agreed to become Tottenham's new head coach and clearly informed Brentford that he hopes to leave the Gtech community stadium to seize this opportunity to replace Postkoglu. However, Tottenham needs to provide a generous compensation package to convince London neighbors to release the Danish coach as the Bees demanded £10m in compensation. Sources also pointed out that before Postkoglu officially left the company, Levi had multiple meetings with Frank, who quickly became Tottenham's top choice.

Frank's successful coaching experience at Brentford also proves his ability to succeed in the Premier League. Frank, 51, will become Tottenham's head coach if Tottenham decides to meet the financial expectations of senior executives. The two sides have not reached a final agreement and further negotiations are still needed. Brentford insists on paying Frank's buyout clause in full, one of two obstacles Tottenham faces. Another hurdle is the discussion of the cost of ensuring Frank’s team members joining North London.

According to GMS sources, Tottenham technical director John Lange is leading the search for a successor to Postkoglu and he has established contact with Frank. Since the two worked together, Tottenham intends to poach Frank from Brentford. Although coaches like Andoni Ilaura are also under consideration for Tottenham, who led Bournemouth to the European Cup in the 2024/25 season, Tottenham finally decided to poach from Brentford to prepare for the upcoming Champions League season.

According to GMS sources, since Postkoglu left, his assistant coaches Mile Yedinak, Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raymondo have also left Tottenham. This brings opportunities for Frank to bring his own team and lead the North London team into a new era. GMS sources also recently revealed that Frank has agreed that if the recruitment department cannot stop Brentford player Mbemo from transferring to Manchester United, they will try to sign Eze from Crystal Palace.
