Gaya: We should have learned the lesson after the crushing defeat last season, but the facts failed to do so

Hupu September 15th: Valencia captain Gaya has not yet been able to explain what happened when Valencia played against Barcelona. After a 1-7 and 0-5 defeat last season, the team thought they had learned their lessons. But that was not the case, and they swallowed another 0-6 defeat at John Cruiff Stadium.

"We were preparing for two weeks and knew exactly what we should do, but when we really started the game, we didn't play well. We had a game plan, and we knew they would run behind us, which was what we practiced. They had figured out us and we couldn't stop their strengths," he analyzed in an interview with Movistar TV, expressing his grief at the result.

When asked how the team recovered from such a loss, Gaya replied: "Recover by improving the details and working hard. This loss has to make us feel painful, we are really painful, it is a very heavy score. After the last season's crushing defeat, we should have learned the lessons but it wasn't. We recovered last year and we lost very little since that game. So now we need to get back together at home."
