According to reports, Barcelona coach Hans Flick has approved the club's bid for Liverpool striker Louis Dias this summer. The Colombia star has been playing for Liverpool since joining Anfield from Porto in December 2022.
28-year-old Dias performed well in this new Premier League champion team, contributing 41 goals and 23 assists in 147 games in various competitions. He played a major role in the Premier League season with 13 goals and seven assists in 35 games, and another five goals contributed in two events, including the Champions League.
Diaz's contract with Liverpool will last until 2027, he has attracted Barcelona's attention. According to reporter Reshad Rehman, Frick has given the green light to Barcelona's introduction of Dias, and Germany currently valued it at 85 million euros. According to Fichajes.net (via Barca Blaugranes), Barcelona will have to pay at least €80 million to sign Diaz, who is regarded as one of the top signing targets for the new La Liga champions.
However, given Barcelona's well-known financial difficulties, they must innovatively meet Liverpool's price tag to sign the Colombia striker.
Liverpool and Barcelona both have had successful seasons, and both teams have secured their respective league titles ahead of schedule, but have performed differently in European games. Liverpool, coached by Slott, lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16, while Barcelona lost to Inter Milan in overtime in the semi-finals, just one step away from the final.
Although the Reds were underperforming in two domestic events (including losing to Newcastle United in the League Cup final), Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, and defeated Real Madrid in both finals.
However, the two teams performed similarly in the last round of the league: Barcelona lost 2-3 to Villarreal at home, while Liverpool lost 2-3 to Brighton away.
Flick's team will challenge Athletic Bilbao away on Sunday (May 25) to end the league journey; on the same day, Liverpool will face Crystal Palace at home to complete the final match of the Premier League.
