June 7th, Knicks Today, NBA insider Ian Begley talked about the sacking of Thibodeau on the show. He believes that the players respect Thibodeau very much, but they believe that the coach's coaching method needs to be improved, and this feedback is one of the factors that led to Thibodeau's sacking.
In his five seasons coached by Thibodeau, he led the team to the playoffs four times, including to the Eastern Conference Finals this year. Despite this, the team management decided to find another new player. IanBegley believes that the feedback from the players at the end of the season with boss James Dolan was an important factor in the decision, saying: "The players expressed great respect and admiration for the experienced coach, but also raised some areas that Thibodeau needs to improve. The team hopes to see these changes under the leadership of the next head coach."
The 32nd head coach in Knicks history is not clear who will take over. However, several candidates have been mentioned in the past few days. Begley revealed that Houston's Uduka, Minnesota's Chris Finch and Dallas's Kidd are all contract-held coaches that the Knicks are interested in.
