Reuse Holiday? The famous player gives the Rockets a trick: Shepard changes to the No. 2 position and signs the third point guard again

On July 3, we also saw the strength of the Rockets' current lineup, but from another perspective, the Rockets' current lineup is indeed a bit distorted. Their lineup seems to be a bit top-heavy, and they have too many players in the interior and frontcourt. Manager Stone even signed and then won the old player Capela, strengthening the No. 5 position, but the Rockets already had three players, Shin Kyung, Adams and Jabbarry Smith, and left veteran Jeff Green with basic salary. So is it necessary to sign Capela again?

Maybe the Rockets have their own ideas, such as letting Capela play more in the regular season instead of Adams, leaving Adams' form and physical fitness in the playoffs before using it. Maybe this choice is good. But the Rockets obviously feel a little overcrowded in the frontcourt, especially after their forward line introduced Finney Smith, Durant, and left behind Jeff Green and Tate. There are two young players in this position, Ethan and Jabbarry Smith Jr., and Amen is also the main choice of the starting lineup, and he is also a forward. The Rockets even signed Cam Matthews, the rookie who lost to the team, with a training camp contract. In this way, the Rockets' forward line will be a little overcrowded.

The Rockets now do not need to strengthen the most, but their backcourt, which is the shooting guard and point guard position. With a full calculation, there are only 4 players in this position at present. Amen Thompson has now switched to the forward and he no longer appears in the No. 1 position. Next season, the Rockets' standard point guards are Van Vritte and Aaron Holiday, and Shepard is a double-season guard, who can play in both the No. 1 position and the No. 2 position.

But the Rockets still need manpower in the backcourt, so don't expect defender Nate Williams who holds a non-guaranteed contract. He is just an ordinary marginal player. The Rockets' backcourt still needs to be strengthened next season, and it may be more reliable to introduce at least another point guard.

Former NBA player and current league legend Jeff Teague also talked about the deformity of the Rockets' lineup. He believes that the Rockets still need to introduce a substitute point guard next season. Although Shepard performed well and the Rockets have veterans like Holiday, the Rockets still need a defender now. Teague believes that he hopes Shepard should be the shooting guard because he is a sniper or a Tanhua Show, so he deserves a chance.

In other words, Teager believes that Shepard is capable, and he is a top scorer, so he should replace Jaylen Green, who was sent away, as the Rockets' shooting guard, and Aaron Holiday should serve as the point guard and become Van Villet's first substitute. Of course, 28-year-old shooter Holiday can also serve as a shooting guard, but the Rockets still need a substitute ball holder. If the Rockets can introduce another substitute point guard, then with Holiday, VanVleet and Shepard, the Rockets' backcourt will not be so cramped. Give basic guard Holiday more opportunities and reuse him, free Shepard to the No. 2 position, and just sign another defender, the Rockets' backcourt will be more perfect.

However, the Rockets have been trying to trade Whitmore and Landale now. If they can be exchanged for a backup guard, the Rockets' lineup will be fine.
