Cooper Flagg will visit the Mavericks on June 17, and the Mavericks are getting closer to picking him with the 2025 NBA Draft No. 1 pick. Last month, the Dallas Mavericks unexpectedly won the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, giving them the right to pick Duke basketball forward Cooper Flagg. Despite rumors that the Mavericks may trade the draft pick, their recent moves suggest they intend to pick the Blue Devils talented player with the No. 1 pick.
Despite several outstanding players entering the 2025 draft, Flag has been the de facto No. 1 pick in the class throughout the season, and that doesn't seem to change anytime soon. Currently, the Mavericks have scheduled a meeting with Flag on June 17. Apart from that, the Dallas Mavericks are not going to try out any other rookies, and the Duke graduate is not planning to play for any other team.
"Cooper Flagage plans to have a private meeting with the Mavericks in Dallas on June 17, according to ESPN sources. A week after Flagage's first official visit to the Mavericks, he will be the No. 1 pick for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Draft on June 25," ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Channel X. The Mavericks will pick Cooper Flag as No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The Mavericks' plans for the 2025 draft are not obvious enough, and now all signs indicate that they will choose Flag. In his only season at Duke, Flag averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, shooting as much as 48.1% from the field, and won numerous awards and honors along the way. Anything can happen in the NBA, but Flag seems ready to join the Dallas Mavericks led by Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving. Assuming he can show immediate influence in his career—that he showed during his Blue Devils—then the Mavericks may be able to quickly get back on track after the bleak season of 2024-25.
