On May 24, Liverpool's official website confirmed that George Septon, known as the "Voice of Anfield", will retire at the end of the season.
Since 1971, George Septon has been a stadium announcer in the stands at Anfield, and his voice has become an integral part of the game day experiences of generations of Liverpool fans. From announcing the roster to playing music that matches the atmosphere, Septon has been with the fans consistently.
Speaking of the outgoing office, Septon said: "It is a glory of my life to be called the Voice of Anfield. I have had the honor of witnessing with my own eyes some great moments in football history, and these memories will always be treasured in my heart. Anfield is like a second home to me, and I have spent more than 50 years here, and I love every moment. But it is time to pass on the microphone to the next generation." His voice adds color to countless memorable moments in the history of the club, and his figure in the stands will be deeply missed.
