Ronaldo won a huge income in Saudi Arabia's team Riyadh, and his personal annual salary even exceeded the total salary expenditure of many top European clubs.

Recently, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo successfully renewed his contract with Saudi professional league team Riyadh, and the two sides signed a new two-year contract. According to sports channel BeIN Sports, Ronaldo's new contract annual salary is as high as 180 million euros. This means that in last season, only eight clubs in Europe had a total salary expenditure higher than Ronaldo's salary. These eight clubs are: Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

The total salary of many European giants is less than that of Ronaldo's annual salary, in contrast, the overall salary expenditure of many well-known European clubs is far lower than that of Ronaldo's personal income. The following are the situations of several teams listed based on data provided by the salary statistics website Capology:

Liverpool

Liverpool's current total salary expenditure is also lower than Ronaldo's annual salary. Although the team may usher in a new wave of signings this summer, especially midfield star Floridian Wilz joins, at the same time, Arnold's overall salary will not change much as much as Arnold leaves the team. Last season, Liverpool's total salary was about 152 million euros, still lower than Ronaldo's personal annual salary.

Inter Milan

Although Inter Milan has performed well in recent years and has reached the Champions League finals twice in three consecutive years, their salary expenditure is far lower than that of the top European giants. It is estimated that Inter Milan's total salary last season was 144 million euros, only about half of Real Madrid's (Real Madrid was 272 million euros in the same period). Even if they adjust their lineup under the leadership of new coach Christian Zivo, the salary structure is not expected to change much.

Newcastle United

Newcastle has been supported by Saudi public investment funds in recent years, and its fiscal situation has improved significantly, but compared with other Premier League giants, their salary expenditures are still relatively low. The total salary in Newcastle last season was about 122 million euros. However, this number is expected to rise significantly in the new season as the team qualifies for the Champions League next season and plans to continue to strengthen the roster, especially the possible increase in the salary of top scorer Isaac.

Atlantic Madrid

Under Simeone's coaching, Atletico Madrid has been firmly in the top three in La Liga for a long time, and there are also high-paying players like Julian Alvarezz, Griezmann and Jan Oblak. However, their total salary expenditure is only 137 million euros, even lower than Ronaldo's annual salary.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tortham ranked only 17th in the Premier League last season, but was qualified to participate in the Champions League next season due to defeating Manchester United to win the UEFA Cup. Nevertheless, the team's total salary expenditure is estimated to be 123 million euros.

Napoli

Napolis performed stably in Serie A last season, and also introduced stars such as Kevin De Bruyne in the transfer market, but the overall salary expenditure is still relatively conservative. It is estimated that their total salary for the 2024/25 season is only 87 million euros, less than half of Ronaldo’s annual salary.

Summary, Ronaldo's salary level in the Saudi league has far exceeded the salary expenditure of many traditional European giants, which also reflects the increasing influence of Middle Eastern capital in global football in recent years.
