On October 17, German media sport1 quoted SportsBoom news as reporting that 33-year-old Bayern veteran Buna Sarr may be about to retire.
Since leaving Bayern in the summer of 2024, Bouna Sarr has never found a home. He was previously injured for a long time due to a torn cruciate ligament. His last official game for Bayern was on November 11, 2023, and since 2022, he has not played on behalf of the Senegal national team.
In an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe last August, Sarr said: "I am looking for a project that will allow me to regain my motivation and enjoy football again. Economic factors are not the primary consideration. I am open to various challenges and just want to live for my passion again."
However, there has been no follow-up progress on this matter.
During his career, Sarr played for Metz, Marseille and Bayern, and represented the Senegal national team 13 times. But since leaving Bayern, he has been unable to find a new club due to injuries and other factors. Although there were repeated scandals with Benfica, Lens and his old club Metz, there was no real progress in the end.
For Bayern, Sarr will probably remain in the memory as an expensive failed signing. The defender only played 33 official games in four years and accumulated 1,293 minutes. In the 2021 German Cup, he scored the only goal of his Bayern career in a 12-0 bloodbath against fifth-tier team Werder Bremen SV.
