British media: Arsenal once offered 40 million pounds in the winter window Watkins was rejected, Villa asked for 60 million pounds

05 May 19th London Football revealed that Arsenal had offered Villa striker Watkins in the last stage of the winter window. The offer was unexpectedly rejected by Villa, who asked for a transfer fee of 60 million pounds. The report also stated that Watkins himself is open to the transfer and he is willing to join Arsenal.
Watkins made 53 appearances this season and scored 17 goals and 14 assists, which has a decrease in efficiency compared to last season.
