May 12 BBC reported that the English Women's Champions League (Second League) will be renamed to Women's Super League 2 next season.
Women's Professional League Co., Ltd. (WPLL), which operates the first two-tier leagues in England, released a new brand system on Thursday, covering the league name, logo and visual image, and announced that the company will be renamed to the Women's Super League Football Company (WSLFootball) from now on.
The English Women's Football League still retains the name of the Women's Super League (WSL), while the secondary league was renamed to Women's Super League 2 (WSL2), thus forming a unified brand structure for the two-tier leagues. This is the first major adjustment since the company took over the operation rights of the event from the FA in August 2024.
WSLFootball said that the new brand image originated from the sports trajectory of female football players, and its dynamic logos, color systems and text logos all draw inspiration from the dynamics of the court. Chief Marketing Officer Ruth Hooper revealed: "We will introduce more measures to continue to promote the development of women's football in the next few months."
With the Chelsea Women's Football Team winning the WSL championship for the sixth time last Saturday, Crystal Palace Women's Football Team was relegated to the secondary league, and the Women's Super League this season officially ended. Earlier this month, the London City Lioness became the first fully independent women's football club to advance to the WSL.
