The Trail Blazers are preparing to provide large-scale early contract renewals for the backcourt stars, which is a bit strange.

According to the report of Jake Fischer, a well-known reporter of The Stein Line, the Portland Trail Blazers offered a four-year early renewal offer for the team's backcourt star Shaedon Sharpe, with a total amount of about $90 million.
Fischer also stated that it is understood that this contract is the initial offer provided by the Trail Blazers to Sharp, and it is not clear how Sharp's attitude towards this offer is. According to the views of most relevant people in the league, Sharp may eventually sign a contract with the Trail Blazers that is basically the same as the Chicago Bulls' previous offer for Josh Giddey, and Kiddy previously received a four-year contract with a total of $100 million. In other words, the Trail Blazers are still willing to provide Sharp with higher quotations based on the existing ones, and there is still some room for negotiation.
Sharp was born in May 2003 and is 22 years old, 196cm tall and weighs 94kg. He is the high-ranking lottery pick selected by the Trail Blazers in the 2022 NBA Draft. In the NBA regular season last season, Sharp made a total of 72 appearances in 82 games, averaging 31.3 minutes per game, averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks, and 2.1 turnovers and 1.7 fouls. He shot 45.2%, three-point shooting percentage 31.1%, and free throw shooting percentage 78.5%. Sharp's overall performance last season was pretty good, his data was quite gorgeous, his performance on the offensive end has improved to a certain extent, his scoring ability is quite excellent, and his advantage in athletic ability is very obvious. However, on the other hand, Sharp's stability in outside shooting is seriously insufficient, and his contribution to the defensive end is relatively limited, and his excellent data cannot help the team achieve greater improvement in their performance.
Sharp is of course a talented young player. He has huge potential to explore and he has the opportunity to grow into an excellent backcourt player. However, the uncertainty in him is too high, and there are huge questions about whether he can become an excellent player in the future. With Sharp's performance in previous seasons, it was more or less beyond everyone's expectations to provide him with such a contract so easily. Considering that the Trail Blazers often have some strange operations when it comes to signing, such as the contract they offer for Jerami Grant, it has become one of the most trashy contracts in the league. Is it really too radical to complete the early renewal with Sharp without fully showing competitiveness and his future is extremely unclear?
