The Bulls offer Gidey tens of millions of qualifications to make him a restricted free agent

According to the NBA transaction records of US media RealGM, the Bulls have offered a qualification offer to defender Gidey, making him a restricted free agent.

Gidy's qualification quote is determined based on his draft ranking and is a one-year contract worth approximately $11.14 million. The offer is essentially a placeholder agreement so that he can negotiate a new contract with the Bulls or wait for other teams to provide a quote. As long as the qualification quote is valid, the Bulls have Gidey’s priority matching rights to match any offer contract he signed.

If Gidedy chooses to accept the qualification offer, she will play next season with an annual salary of US$11.14 million and become a full free agent in 2026. But after Chicago performed well in his first season, he is likely to fight for a richer contract this summer, and accepting qualification offers may be the last choice.

Last summer, the Bulls traded Caruso from the Thunder for Gidey. In the early days, he performed slowly as a Bulls player, averaging 11.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists in the first 40 games, and his shooting percentage in three events was 43.9%/32.4%/75.0%. But the 22-year-old played strong at the end of the season. After sending LaVine to the Kings on the Bulls trade deadline, he assumed more offensive responsibilities, averaging 18.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 7.8 assists in the last 30 games, shooting 49.0%/43.6%/79.9% from three games.

When Gidedy discussed rookie contract renewal with the Bulls last fall, he asked for an annual salary of $30 million, and he ranked fifth in the Top 50 free agent list this summer.

In addition, according to RealGM, Rockets inside player Dante also received a qualification offer, which is equivalent to a one-year two-way contract. Dante played only 4 NBA games in the 2024-25 rookie season, but performed well in the G League, representing the Rockets affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers, playing 31 games, averaging 16.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 29.1 minutes per game.
