Stop talking about who can play multiple positions! Only these 5 people in the NBA can play 1 to 5 positions

The sport of basketball has never been just five positions and five functions. In NBA history, some players have broken the boundaries of traditional positions, from ball control to rebounding, from scoring to defense, and have multiple positions. They are not "panyaki oil", but "all-round warriors" in the true sense - they can deliver high-level performance no matter what they need to do.

Fifth place: Draymond Green

Honors: 4 NBA championships / 1 best defensive player / 2 best lineup / 4 best defensive team

Although Green is not tall, he is really versatile in playing basketball. The offensive end can be organized, and the defensive end can be replaced with three positions: large, medium and small. In the 2016 finals, he once served as a "ball forward" on the offensive end, and at the same time, he could face James head-on on the defensive end, or defend the frame and assist in defense. That year, he averaged 14 points, 9.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game, all of which were top of the four statistics. He has played center and point guard, and changing three or four roles in a game is a regular operation.

4th place: James Harden

Honors: 1 MVP / 3 scoring king / 1 assist king / 7 best team

Don't be deceived by Harden's scoring title. In fact, his ball control ability, passing vision and organizational level can be the main controller. In 2017, he transformed into point guard, averaging 11.2 assists per game to win the assist king, which directly made D'Antoni's system play well. During the Rockets' period, he even often served as the "point guard + shooting guard + small forward" in one. In 2021, he played center tactics at the Nets, and averaged 8 rebounds and two blocks per game against the Suns. Although Harden is not a traditional inside player, he can use his body to hold on to the fourth position, and has extremely high tactical flexibility.

Third place: Scotty Pippen

Honors: 6 NBA championships / 10 best defensive team / 7 All-Stars / 1994 All-Star MVP

Pippen is a representative figure of "capable of doing everything". As the most reliable deputy around Jordan, he can both dribble and push and control the ball to attack, and can also defend from No. 1 to No. 5. In 1994, when Jordan retired, Pippen averaged 22 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.9 steals per game, leading the team to the Eastern Conference semi-finals. In the 1997 Finals G1, he defended Stockton, Malone and Hornersek in the same game, from point guard bag to power forward, and was almost the defensive iron gate that moved almost the entire game.

Second place: LeBron James

Honors: 4 MVPs / 4 NBA championships / Historical scoring champion / 19 All-Stars

James really played in his career in five positions. When he led the team to the finals in 2007, he was the ball-handling leader; in 2012, he beat power forwards and centers; in the year the Lakers won the championship in 2020, he averaged 10.2 assists per game, which was the first in the league, equivalent to a super point guard. He can not only score points, but also organize, protect the frame, defend and switch to defense. In the 2023 playoffs against the Warriors, he served as point guard propulsion, pick-and-roll in the inside, three-pointers in the corner, and once back to defend and block Wiggins, which was completely a tactical kaleidoscope.

No. 1: Magic Johnson

Honors: 3 MVPs / 5 NBA championships / 3 Finals MVPs / One of the historical assist kings

If James is the pinnacle of modern all-round, then Magic is the originator of all-round. He was in the G6 season in the finals of his rookie season. Jabbar was absent due to injury. He played directly from point guard to center, scoring 42 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists, and also led the team to win the championship! What is this concept? He is 2.06 meters tall but can make a defender-like pass, and he can also force a big man to fight in the inside. He averaged 11.2 assists per game in his career, shot up to 52% from the field, and was able to play as a receiving point at critical moments. The Magician does not "play occasionally", but switches between different positions throughout the game, which is simply the mobile incarnation of basketball.
