NBA executives express their opinions on the progress the Lakers have made to welcome back $23 million a year-on-year star

The Los Angeles Lakers' frontcourt lineup was underperformed in the playoffs, and they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Most of the Lakers play small ball tactics, and they suffer a lot from rebounding compared to the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves' center is Rudy Gobert and the power forward is Julius Randle.
Considering their struggles in the playoffs, an NBA executive believes the Lakers are looking for a seasoned big man in the market during the offseason. In a report by Gerry Welfell, the Lakers are exploring the availability of Milwaukee Bucks center Brooke Lopez, who earns $23 million a year, according to Sportsrac.
"There will be a lot of people interested in him. I believe the Lakers have already talked to him," an NBA executive said in the report.
Since last February of last year, the Lakers have fewer front-court rotations, sending only Jackson Hayes and Alex Ren in most games.
Lopez, a former Lakers player, will promote the team's frontcourt rotation. The 37-year-old center has been a key figure in the Bucks’ playoffs for the past few years, including their 2021 championship journey, defending with star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
With Doncic's control of the rhythm, Lopez can play a key role in the Lakers' space. He can also be a pick-and-roll partner for LeBron James and Doncic if he is selected in the offseason.
Lopez averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game for the Bucks this season, but the Bucks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick hopes that the team's roster will improve next season
Lakers head coach JJ Redick worked with what he got in his first year as chief tactician. Next season, he hopes that the team's positions will be clearer.
After losing to the Timberwolves in the first round, the Lakers coach talked about the team's biggest problem in lineup composition.
"I recognise the need for height, and of course Gobert did hurt us offensively in Games 4 and 5. But it's about 'What's in front of you?' So I can have a philosophy where I can want to play fast paces, move the ball from one side to the other, and do seven different moves in different possessions.
"Is this the best for my team? "If the answer is no, then I won't do that. So, all we have to do is find out the best way for the entire group."
The Lakers are expected to continue competing with Doncic and James next year. They can also seek to add more additions during the offseason.
