According to US sports media F/W reporter Nico Martinez, in a Hall of Fame speech, Dwight Howard reviewed his bumpy history with O'Neal, saying it was nothing more than a brotherly competition.

Dwight Howard spoke at the podium at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, he spoke of a familiar name, who also happens to be one of the greatest players of all time: Shaquille O'Neal. The two have a long and complex history, but Howard claims that their competition is nothing more than a harsh love, thus calming the competition once and for all.

"Shake, we don't always agree, but in hindsight, I believe it's just a competition between brothers and sisters," Howard said. "We are brothers from the Basketball Brotherhood, and sometimes fraternities fight over the stupidest things. I really blame Soulja Boy. But I just want you all to know that the real, original Superman is here and it's a great honor for you to take me into this great stage."

Dwight Howard was one of the last truly dominant traditional centers, and he can compete with O'Neal. While he is not as big or strong as Shaq, Dwight's athleticism closes the gap, and he is at the center of one of the best games in Orlando Magic's history. His cold war with Shaq stemmed from the 2008 slam dunk contest when he wore a cape and the iconic Superman logo in one of the shows. As the original NBA Superman, Shaq thought Howard got the nickname from him, but it was actually inspired by Soulja Boy's song of the same name.

No matter where he got it, it triggered Shaq's resentment, leading to years of cruel comments and resentment between the big man. They went back and forth for a long time, and O'Neal used any opportunity he had obtained to fight back against the man he thought was trying to usurp his achievements. In addition to insulting his game, O'Neal also claimed Howard was not a Hall of Fame member and even laughed at him for having a record of failure during his time in Taiwan. He also sent him annoying messages on social media, calling Dwight a “bus passenger” because he played a role in the Lakers’ 2020 championship. In return. Howard accuses Shaq of being a liar while claiming to be a "fake superman." At one point, he even launched a boxing match against Shaq, but since Dwight had only one ring, the diesel refused.

Needless to say, things between the two have become very ugly, but their relationship has improved a lot since then. They settled in April and finally settled after a private conversation that clarified the facts. They clarified the air and Shaq agreed to attend Dwight's Hall of Fame ceremony. Since then, peace and respect have been maintained among NBA legends, Shaq fulfilled his promise and today took place at Dwight's praise ceremony. It’s great to see them so close that you have to appreciate how they let go of the past and support each other in a way we never thought we would.

Howard respected Shaquille O'Neal as "the real, original superman", bowed to one of the NBA's most trivial battles and showed that even the most intense competition can turn into brotherhood. For fans who have watched the drama unfold for more than a decade, this moment marks the right end of the beef and is a celebration of the two most dominant big men of the game ever.
