On May 15, the Lakers issued a recruitment announcement, planning to hire a chief strength and physical trainer, with an annual salary of US$200,000-250,000. One of the core goals is to strengthen player discipline.

According to the recruitment announcement, the coach needs to develop and manage personalized strength and fitness training plans for each player to help him reach the best competitive state and stay healthy. Specific responsibilities include:

The overall training arrangements throughout the year, adjusting the plan as needed, and ensuring that players maintain motivation and coherence in the strength room;

Before training, game and shooting warm-up, you should take the lead in the warm-up and activation links;

The ability to collaborate in teams, adapt to flexible working hours, and be able to travel away with the team for a long time.

Job requirements include: bachelor's degree in sports science, sports medicine, sports science, human kinematics and other related majors (master degree is preferred); you must have the ability to lift a weight of more than 100 pounds and be able to standardize the demonstration training movements.

Foreign media Basketnews forwarded the announcement and stated that the purpose of this recruitment may be to help Doncic lose weight during the offseason. After the Lakers were eliminated in the first round, Doncic was criticized by famous Barkley.

"You are a top player and are about to sign a contract of $300 million to $400 million. You must match this salary by maintaining your body shape. He can't defend anyone at all," Barkley said on the show at the time. "Luka can't even defend against a chair. He must learn to defend and control his body shape - manage his body shape first, so that other problems will be solved."

Lakers reporter Buha pointed out that Doncic's physical condition is more regarded as a "slight hidden danger" rather than a major problem, but it is worth noting that Doncic's physical condition is even considered one of the potential reasons why the Mavericks traded it to the Lakers.

Nevertheless, Doncic may have turned criticism into motivation. Many people believe that Doncic will follow LeBron James, who is still in the top physical condition at the age of 40, control his weight and strengthen his physical fitness during the offseason.
